Graphics all the way.
Printing large format is just one thing we do here at Voom, the other thing is everything else. 🙂
We pride ourselves on the work that we produce in our large format department so it makes sense for us to make sure it is installed correctly. That is why we offer installation of most of our large format graphics that we create!
Installing it the right way.
Producing graphics and displays that need to be installed starts before the job is put into production. We must first understand where the graphic will be located and then precisely measure the area to be covered in order to fit the art exactly where it needs to go. Once that is determined, we would need to figure out what kind of substrate is to be used for the project. Substrate reference page coming soon!
Pro tip: If you are designing your own artwork for your graphic installation, measure twice and design once. This will ensure the exact dimensions for your art board (if you are using Illustrator) and will help our prepress department from having to alter your image you worked tirelessly on.
Hardware or not?
Now that you have decided on a location and substrate for your graphic, the next step would be to determine if you need hardware for this job. This mostly pertains to rigid substrates such as acrylic, wood, foam board and PVC. Hanging these items can be done by way of standoffs or ceiling hangers, just to name a few. If you want to explore all other options we recommend you stop by the shop to see our hardware accessories.
For those rolled substrates, or “soft substrates”, we tend to be installing these on glass, walls, floors or even wrapping physical items like a lectern for example. You can, however, hang banners by way of grommets from ceilings or simply attach it to a chain link fence but you may not need our services for that install.
Wraps and clings.
Of the more difficult installations, wraps and clings require the most work on installation and tend to demand the use of specialty tools during the installation process. Window clings, both perforated and solid vinyl, can be quite tricky. This is especially the case when installing them in the elements as the heat and the cold affect the material in different ways, making the process of covering a 68″ by 68″ glass entry door a little more tedious. Could you probably figure these things out. Sure. Is it worth the stress of potentially ruining the piece and having to reprint it? Probably not. We have experience with these things and our tenure on the matter pays off for you in the end.
Indoor graphics have their own struggles ranging from sheer size of the installation to the complexity of the area in which the graphic must adhere to. Trimming and cutting the piece to fit tight corners, around light fixtures and even custom inlays can give even the most experienced installers headaches.
